He walked down the bustling concrete paths of Atlas, living metal flying past him, as people rushed eagerly to whatever that had planned for the day; Work, Academy, Breakfast?
The air smelt of gun smoke pride, and Atlas patriotism, as he brushed past people going in the opposite direction, holding his suitcase, and his head up high.
On the other side of the street, She strode with her partner, the two smiling as they walked gleefully. A thug stopped the pair, waving sharp steel, spitting insults;
"Ay, you pair of b-bloody Dykes, b-bend over for m-me!"
The thug spat loudly, his brain clearly tainted by alcohol. The pair of girls recoiled at the man, who swung at the air like a tiger at the onlookers at the Zoo.
The man, from the other side of the street, hearing the commotion, sprinted over, waving down oncoming vehicles. He stood between the couple and the thug, dropping his case on the pavement.
"Hey, leave them alone, I'm not afraid of a street rat with a ****ing blade!"
He yelled in an uncontrolled protective anger, not at all knowing of the Girls' combat experience or training.
He panicked as the Thug thrust the blade forward, making an awkward block, being stabbed through his right hand, he yelped in pain, and blood streamed onto the stone.
He looked up, vision fading, toward the belligerent, who had pulled the blade out, and shoved it into his stomach. He fell to the ground as his vision faded, hearing noises and further commotion as he lay motionless, clutching his chest as it spewed blood.

He awoke beneath white sheets, a beeping noise plaguing his ear drums. Pulling down the sheet, the realization was apparent, he sat in room 6C of Atlas District Hospital, the room that looked over the city, he could see police tape over an alleyway, and wondered if he had really remedied the situation at all.
A note was left on the bedside table, simply reading;
"Thank me later..
From, C.U"
He sought to find whoever had placed him there, begging the nurses, skipping out of the bed, and tearing off the name-tag that read,
"Patient: Keicho Tarnung: Condition: Stable"
He pulled his jacket from the door, and threw it over his bare chest, wrapped in bandage, and slowly running out the door to seek out the one who had aided him.
He skid, and turned back, walking through the automatic doors,
"Excuse me" he asked a Nurse; "Who brought me here?!"
The Nurse described a woman, who Keicho instantly recognized as the one who he had tried to defend,
"How embarrassing" he thought to himself, as he walked back out the door, to begin his search.

Hours passed of nothing, walking up and down the street, down alleys, asking passers by, he gave up and sat at a park bench, cradling his head in his hands.
After a while of self thought, he decided, that in the spirit of the recent occurrence, he'd apply to Atlas (Combat) Academy, and become a Hunter, not a Lawyer, as his father had once wished for him, before his brother and himself had parted ways in Vale.

He stood outside the door to the Academy, huge and adorned with insignia, walking in, he was hit by the cool breeze of air conditioning, he walked to a front desk clerk, asking where application forms were.
"Down the hall, and to the left, Sir"
She said, in a monotone voice, as he moved before she could say another word.
Sitting down in the booth, he noticed something, his head almost turning 360 degrees, he saw the woman, that he had utterly failed to "protect", though in the end, she saved him. He turned back quickly and filled out the application, trying to hide his bandages, forgetting about the fact that he had a jacket and no shirt on.
He quickly buttoned up the jacket, signing off on the application, and submitting it through the small port in the wall, turning to her.
She instantly recognized him, giving him an awkward smile. He sat down next to her, saying,
"Thanks..I guess, please don't tell me you beat that bastard up.."
She smirked, and nodded to him.
He pulled on his collar, feeling low,
"You're applying too?" He asked,
She nodded again.
"So, if we both get in we'll be in similar classes?"
She nodded again.
"Don't say much?"
She nodded, one last time.
He grinned, and stood up,
"I'll see you then..My name's Keicho Tarnung, by the way.."
She offered her hand to shake, and made out,
"Clarisse Umber"
He nodded and shook her hand, awkwardly leaving the room and the facility, sitting down on the closest bench outside, contemplating his decision. He had no past combat experience, except for PE class back in Vale, and had not developed and Aura OR a semblance.
"I'm a mess, a damn mess" he whispered to himself, getting back up, and walking toward his apartment.
