As far as each member could remember it was always simple times. The would all meet up in the same alley using trashcan lids as shields and broken broom sticks as swords. They'd run around screaming "In the name of justice!" and all that other useless blabber kids of their age shouted when playing superhero, And like most kids they thought they were making a difference, scaring off rats for the lady who runs the bread store. Scaring off the neighbor hood bullies the Torrins, and of course going back to their headquarters to discuss how to further help their dying home.
You had the second youngest of the group Carter Blanche, The childhood prodigy, He had an ability with robotics and programs that most of the kids in town couldn't dare reach for, most of the adults too. You had the youngest Owen Steel, Always wearing a bucket on his head and a box around his body like it was a heavy suit of armor, The Dragon Knight of Steel he preferred to be called and he wouldn't dare respond to anything else. Then you had DORC force's leader and the oldest, Darian Auburn , He wasn't as smart as Carter, But he sure was stronger. He wasn't even as strong as Owen, Who was well beyond his age when it came to strength, But he was definitely smarter. While the other members used weapons, Carter his sling shot and Owen his broom stick and shield, Darian preferred to use his hands to fight, like his father once had during his underground boxing matches that Darian always went and watched. Finally you had the second oldest and smallest of the bunch Rachel Steel, Owens older sister and Darian's crush, He would never admit it though (He had a very strong sense of pride and all).
Darian may be the leader but she was the de facto leader in some respects, If she didn't like Darian's plan or thought they were doing something too dangerous she would always step in and protest (And Darian had a hard time saying no to HER of all people). But they were a group of friends who cared about one another and they cared about their town. A town that seemingly never faced grimm attacks or any of the horrors their parents referred to as the "real Vale" in small conversations they thought the kids weren't listening to, Oh but the kids were listening, And they thought about it every day. Darian would start a promise with these friends, these would-be heroes , the DORC force (A name he hated but Rachel would not budge on), Each of them carrying on their shoulders promises from their past generations, "We are going to be the best hunters ever!" Darian said rubbing snot out of his nose. "Won't that mean we'll have to fight each other for the top spot?" Carter said with his usual prankish grin plastered on his face, Hoping to cause a dumb argument between Darian and Owen. "Of course not! cause we will be on the same team!" Rachel had said putting an end to Carter's usual trickery. And this promise is one that they all worked toward but only three would be able to keep. Because on the day when what the adults referred to as "real Vale" came to their small town, There would be a break, A rift that would end one of their journeys into the world of Hunter's and Huntress's. And a reminder of what the term "real Vale." could mean, and possibly what a life as Hunters could mean.
